this is what passes for french in this family. with sibling.
here’s the thing: canadian comedy group picnicface wanted to make a movie. so they fund raise by dedicating rap songs/poems/skits etc. to the people that donated. cool idea. this was a while ago. i’m grossly late in hearing about this, whatever.
i’ve been working in installments through all of them because obviously, i have to. but this is the one i choose to remember forever because it is the only thing that has ever mentioned the movie powder. ever. even the movie powder had no mention of the movie powder because, of course movies don’t know they’re alive. we’ll talk about that later.
so watch these videos. or not. but definitely watch the movie powder. it will change your life. but if you have already seen the movie powder, then ssshhh. let’s place our hands on the screen and communicate in silence.
this is to me right now, what sounds good.
logo created by (the very dapper) allan fleming in 1968.
big fan of how it vague/instantly communicates both science (venn diagram) and ontario (the trillium) without trying too hard. it shouldn’t get more complicated than this.
Dan Mangan’s new video for “Post War Blues”. A Dr. Strangelove homage starring Don McKellar.
aww bless. subtle as a brick.
if i do anything, it’s follow up on bands i read offa the back of strangers.
this guy and his band are incredible.
400 milles - les breastfeeders
adieu - coeur de pirate
the cn tower belongs to the dead, has a good home - owen pallette
while i’m on an arkells roll, here’s whistleblower too. directed by a jared raab who is now interesting to me.
the making of video is also faskinating because turns out it’s totally just shooting a live performance from four angles and projecting into a pyramid and spinning around said pyramid catching all the action. just.
oh dear, arkells ain’t that sweet band i used to have to tell people about no more. they’ve got their very own vevo (yuh huh!) and the most hipster (but still darn beautiful) video i’ve seen in recent times. when will i catch them live and post bad concert pictures again?
Oh dear. Context.

8 minutes is a lot to ask, I know. But worth it.
