second india thing today from my favourite blog on all things old and india.
along with the practice of writing letters, we’ve stopped hand-drawing maps for people. as inefficient as it may be, drawing a map for someone was the subtlest way of communicating care and concern: the only level i’m comfortable expressing.
now that it’s rare, it’s not so subtle anymore. now offering to draw a map makes you look like a complete dork. fyi.
