Jack Kerouac (March 12, 1922 – October 21, 1969); American novelist and poet.

i beat my own record for travelling to the states in this past year or so. three different trips to three (way way vastly oh hey) different cities: new york, las vegas and houston. fun is fun, but i really want to see america. or rather to travel deep enough and long enough to be able to see and never forget.
sometime recently, i became interested in a road trip. specifically, what i want to do is follow this map here:

‘tis the map from jack kerouac’s novel, on the road. now i haven’t read the book yet (i really hope it ends well, by some definition of well) so there’s no real reason to pick this map. i just like that although it runs through some well rural areas, it mainly hits cities that i’ve always wanted to visit. and i like that it truly runs through the middle of that country.
i guess i’ll just add this to that list of mine.
p.s. got the map from this interesting article on the journey of kerouac v. steinbeck

My boredom levels were high.

realised i never posted this on my own tumblr. if i could only find that other photo that said ausfahrt i’d have the complete set of road signs we had a (dumb touristy) giggle at.
ilovecharts:

challenge accepted. kinda.
not a chart, but a street sign in prague where a combination of man, child, ball, house and car is not allowed.

trying to avoid the cracks is a version of “floor is lava” that lasts forever. i hope this is the start of some actual study into this matter. we need some representation in urban planning or something.

Do they design the sidewalks this way on purpose or…

As somebody with a minor sidewalk crack evasion OCD, I concur that this needs to be changed.
